What we are looking for

  • This position is based in the South of Spain and covers the relevant activities in that area for Existing vessels Materials & components. Occasional work outside of this area is also expected to cover business needs. The role is primarily dealing with the survey of Existing vessels and Materials & components activities and will be appointed at Surveyor or Senior Surveyor grade depending on experience and skills..

The Role

  • As a surveyor you will conduct relevant activities undertake project management and provide advice for service delivery within own area of experience adhering to budget constraints and contractual requirements.
  • Produce the deliverable to the agreed schedule budget and quality levels within an appropriate format and take responsibility to review and monitor other employees work as requested.
  • Discuss and present the deliverable with the internal / external client and be able to suggest solutions as necessary.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures accreditation schemes legislation and industry standards.
  • Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Assess or recommend the time and value of the work to be undertaken for an external client and to assist in identifying the most appropriate fee and cost structure.
  • Contribute to external client management; ensuring service delivery is continually improved through monitoring and acting on client feedback appropriately.
  • Ensure the appropriate authorizations are gained and are kept up to date. This may involve Activity Monitoring.

What you bring

Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognized by Lloyds Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ships officer.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards).
  • To work in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics.
  • Previous experience of verification processes product and rule development and project management with experience of delivering technical services and products within defined budgets and timescales.
  • To be able to use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to optimize the application of existing and emerging technology.
  • To be able to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to analyse and solve engineering problems.
  • To provide technical and commercial leadership within the responsibilities assigned.
  • To demonstrate effective interpersonal skills including communication in English at all levels
