The mission of Thales international in regions is to foster and manage growth of Thales presence in all the countries of these Regions for all Thales group activitiesin the aerospace space defense and security this context the Regional Hub supports Thales Operational Units initiatives for exporting their solutions to customers in the Regions. Business activities are managed through the local presence of dedicated organizations (representative offices branches subsidiaries and JVs).

Legal Counsel will oversee the legal and compliance aspects of the Regional Hub and its local entities. Operating within the framework of the Thales Compliance Program and Group procedures the Legal Counsel will play a pivotal role in implementing best practices in ethics governance and legal risk mitigation. This position is based full-time at the Regional Hubs offices in Madrid with occasional travel to countries within the Europe and Latin America Regions.

We are now looking for a Legal Counsel to join our team in Madrid:

Working in close contact with senior stakeholders in the Regional Hub environment (including Regional Directors Country Directors Chief Operating Officers BA&KIP Managers Key Account Managers Contract and Program Managers Finance Directors and Human Resources) the Job Holder will be responsible for in particular:

  • Securing the legal aspects of commercial engineering services to support export and domestic initiatives undertaken by Thales Operational Units in the Regions.
  • Identifying and selecting Business Advisers qualifying Key Industrial Partners and managing due diligence files in coordination with Country Directors and local functions.
  • Drafting negotiating preparing and managing contracts with Business Advisers ensuring compliance with Thales ethics rules and best practices.
  • Monitoring and ensuring strict application of the integrity assessment of third parties (partners suppliers customers distributors etc.) by investigating internal and external sources to produce accurate legal analyses.
  • Addressing corporate law governance and compliance aspects for local Thales companies joint ventures (JVs) and branches within the Latin America Region.

Moreover the Legal Counsel will:

  • Contribute to the evolution of Thales Groups organization aligning with new laws regulations and ethical governance practices.
  • Act as a key legal advisor in a dynamic and competitive business environment supporting initiatives in diversified sectors (ministries municipalities transport oil & gas airports airlines etc.).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal risk mitigation in contracts industrial cooperation and financing schemes.
  • Serve as a legal reference point for Thales Eurams compliance initiatives working closely with the Legal Compliance & Contracts Director of the Regional Hub.

Experience Knowledge & Skills:

  • The candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience as an in-house lawyer in an international environment with expertise in international contracts and compliance issues.
  • A strong command of English French and Spanish.
  • Autonomy meticulousness self-confidence and strong teamwork capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and cultural awareness of the Europe and Latin America Regions.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as Microsoft Office tools (Word Excel PowerPoint).
