Lead Product Safety Engineer
Job Summary

Design and Optimization: Focuses on identifying and quantifying system requirements exploring different design concepts conducting studies and selecting optimal designs. This ensures the product is both safe and efficient.
Execution: Encompasses the entire lifecycle from concept through production to operation. It impacts projects programs and organizational practices ensuring safety considerations are integrated throughout.
Practices and Policies: Guided by established standards and policies the role requires operational judgment to maintain safety and quality while allowing for innovation and improvement.
Autonomy: While guided by professional standards the role involves significant decision-making authority requiring a balance between adherence to protocol and independent judgment.
The Lead Product Safety Engineer is responsible for evaluating design safety and ensuring potential personnel and environmental hazards are mitigated. This involvement is throughout the entire product life cycle including conducting reviews as part of the design process and tracking resolution of field issues.
Essential Responsibilities
- Facilitate and support product safety risk assessments for new and existing (installed base equipment) units.
- Facilitate the Product Safety Process cross-functionally.
- Drive resolution of safety critical items.
- Quantify risk by performing quantitative risk modeling on complex systems to assess design safety risk
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors of Engineering degree in Industrial Mechanical Chemical Electrical Environmental or similar field from an accredited college or university
- Experience in a design systems field operations or product safety role.
- Excellent team and communication skills.
- Ability to perform well under pressure as a problem solver.
- Successfully achieves concrete results through hard work and perseverance.
- Easily analyzes and prioritizes information distilling it to the critical issues and drawing accurate conclusions.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Willingness and availability to work from the Barcelona office.
- Fluent English

- Knowledgeable of global industry safety codes standards/regulations
- Experience in performing probabilistic analysis.
- Wind turbine design or operations experience.
