Global Head Regulatory Science and Asset Management
Job Summary
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for leading UPLs global strategy related to Regulatory Science and Asset Management. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the companys compliance with global regulatory requirements while maximizing the value of research development and commercial assets across their lifecycle. The role requires a strategic hands-on approach to managing regulatory approvals optimizing portfolio decisions driving lifecycle management and ensuring regulatory excellence to support business growth and innovation.
PRIMARY KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Regulatory Compliance Management
- Oversee global regulatory compliance ensuring all products meet the necessary regulatory standards in the countries where they are sold.
- Manage the regulatory approval process for new products ensuring registrations are completed efficiently and maintaining ongoing compliance.
- Ensure timely product approvals registrations renewals and lifecycle submissions across key markets (India US EU LATAM APAC Africa etc.).
Regulatory Science Leadership
- Lead and strengthen the organizations regulatory science capabilities to support innovation and product development.
- Provide strategic regulatory guidance throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Monitor and interpret evolving global regulatory frameworks and assess their business impact.
- Develop data-driven regulatory strategies that accelerate approvals and enhance market access.
Asset Management & Portfolio Optimization
- Lead the strategic management of UPLs global product and innovation asset portfolio.
- Establish governance frameworks for asset prioritization investment decisions and portfolio reviews.
- Drive portfolio optimization by evaluating commercial potential technical feasibility regulatory risks and resource requirements.
- Monitor asset performance and ensure alignment with corporate growth objectives.
- Partner with R&D Commercial and Finance teams to identify opportunities for value creation and maximize return on investment across the portfolio.
- Lead lifecycle management strategies for existing products including registrations label expansions line extensions formulation improvements and market expansion opportunities.
- Provide strategic recommendations on asset progression partnerships acquisitions licensing opportunities and portfolio rationalization decisions.
- Ensure cross-functional alignment on key asset milestones development timelines and commercialization plans.
Strategic Planning and Regulatory Policy Development
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic plans addressing global regulatory challenges and business priorities.
- Develop long-term regulatory and asset management strategies that support innovation sustainability and market expansion goals.
- Support portfolio decision-making through scientific regulatory and commercial assessments.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams including R&D Legal Supply Chain Manufacturing Finance and Commercial departments to align regulatory and asset strategies with business objectives.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective approvals and successful commercialization of products in key markets.
- Support business development initiatives through regulatory due diligence and asset evaluation.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a global team of regulatory affairs regulatory science and asset management professionals.
- Foster a high-performance culture and ensure team members are equipped with the necessary tools and training to succeed in a dynamic global environment.
- Build organizational capability in portfolio management lifecycle planning and regulatory excellence.
Market Intelligence and Portfolio Insights
- Monitor global regulatory trends emerging scientific requirements and competitive landscape developments.
- Assess potential impacts on the product portfolio and provide actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
- Identify emerging opportunities and risks affecting strategic assets and business growth.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Education: Masters degree or equivalent in Regulatory Affairs Life Sciences Agriculture Biotechnology Chemistry Environmental Science Business Administration or a related discipline. Ph.D. preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs Regulatory Science Product Development Portfolio Management or related functions within the agrochemical crop protection biotechnology or life sciences sectors. At least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Global Expertise: Extensive knowledge of international regulatory frameworks including the EU US APAC LATAM and Africa regions with a proven track record of navigating complex global regulatory landscapes.
- Asset Management Expertise: Demonstrated experience in portfolio management lifecycle management asset prioritization and strategic investment decision-making.
- Strategic Thinking: Proven ability to develop and execute global regulatory and asset strategies that drive business growth and innovation.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders globally.
