Reinsurance Technical Lead (Director Técnico de Reaseguro)

Madrid Spain (also open to professionals currently based in London interested in relocating)

An international insurance and reinsurance organisation (intermediary) is seeking a senior technical professional to strengthen its reinsurance capabilities and contribute to the development of complex risk solutions across industrial and specialty lines.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with underwriting placement and claims teams providing high-level technical expertise in the analysis structuring and management of reinsurance programmes.

Main Responsibilities

Technical Risk & Reinsurance Expertise

• Assess and evaluate complex risks within industrial and specialty business lines.
  
• Analyse policy structures coverage frameworks and reinsurance arrangements.
  
• Provide technical guidance to internal stakeholders throughout the placement process.
  
• Review engineering reports risk assessments and technical documentation.
  

Market & Client Interaction

• Collaborate with insurers reinsurers and specialist market participants.
  
• Participate in discussions regarding programme design and risk transfer strategies.
  
• Support client-facing activities including technical presentations and risk reviews.
  
• Build relationships with external technical experts and industry partners.
  

Strategic & Business Support

• Contribute to the development of solutions within emerging and specialised sectors.
  
• Assist in identifying new business opportunities and market trends.
  
• Support initiatives aimed at enhancing technical excellence and market positioning.
  

Claims & Technical Consultation

• Provide technical input on large and complex losses.
  
• Support claims teams with coverage interpretation and risk-related matters.
  
• Facilitate communication between technical placement and claims functions.
  

Governance & Coordination

• Ensure technical accuracy and consistency across documentation and contractual records.
  
• Support compliance with regulatory and internal governance standards.
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on reporting and portfolio analysis.
  

Requisitos

Candidate Profile

• Mandatory: Fluent English and Spanish.
  
• University degree in Engineering Sciences or a related technical discipline.
  
• Previous experience within reinsurance insurance or specialty risk markets.
  
• Strong understanding of industrial property engineering or energy-related risks.
  
• Experience reviewing technical reports risk assessments and loss prevention documentation.
  
• Ability to operate effectively within international and multicultural environments.
  
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
  
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to different audiences.
  
• Additional qualifications in Risk Management Insurance or Reinsurance would be advantageous.
