Director Local Original Productions Iberia (Madrid)

Your New Role

As Director Local Original Productions you will lead the creative and strategic direction of local content across Iberia shaping a high-quality culturally relevant production slate that drives audience engagement and long-term business growth. This role sits at the heart of WBDs content strategy combining creative leadership operational oversight and commercial insight to deliver premium storytelling that aligns with both regional priorities and global objectives.

Your Role Accountabilities

• Define and execute the local original production strategy across Iberia building a high-performing slatein thescriptedgenres.
• You will ensure all content aligns with audience demand and business goals.
• Identify evaluate and secure high-potential projects managing them through development to delivery with a strong focus on quality and market fit.
• Lead and inspire cross-functional teams fostering a collaborative high-performance culture across creative production and programming functions.
• Partner closely with marketing PR and communications teams to maximise audience impact and strengthen brand positioning through local storytelling.
• Oversee budgets forecasting and financial planning ensuring efficient allocation of resources and strong cost management across productions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with creative talent production companies and industry partners acting as a key ambassador for the business.
• Navigate complex stakeholder environments ensuring alignment across regional and global teams while driving strategic decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience

• Extensive experience in content development production programming or media leadership with a strong track record of delivering successful content portfolios.
• Deep understanding of the Spanish and Iberian media landscape including audience behaviour streaming trends and competitive dynamics.
• Proven leadership experience within complex matrixed organisations with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Strong creative and editorial judgement combined with commercial and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
• Fluency in Spanish and English with the ability to operate effectively in an international environment.
