Data Manager (Rare Anaemia Disorders Research Laboratory)
Job Summary
The University Hospital Vall dHebron is highly specialised in rare diseases at the regional national and international level with its incorporation as a full member of 20 of the 24 European Reference Networks (ERNs).
The scientific coordination of the ERN-EuroBloodNet the ERN dedicated to Rare Haematological Diseases (RHD) is led by Dr Mañú Pereira head of the Rare Anaemia Disorders research laboratory within the CANCER Y ENFERMEDADES HEMATOLOGICAS INFANTILES group at Vall dHebron Research Institute (VHIR).
The research strategy of our research laboratory is focused on the development and validation of innovative methodological approaches for better characterisation of patients affected by rare anemia disorders according to their individual features to allow personal risk profiles and personalised medicine.
Within the ERN-EuroBloodNet and in line with the strategy at European level the team is leading several projects on European patients registries for rare haematological diseases namely the European Patients Registries on Rare Haematological Diseases ENROL and on Rare Anaemia Disorders RADeep aiming at avoiding fragmentation of data by promoting the standards for patient registries interoperability.
Building on this expertise the group is now launching RADiANT a new research initiative that extends our data infrastructure beyond patient registries into clinical trial-grade research. RADiANT encompasses clinical outcomes research including the definition of endpoints and study populations and the use of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs); the design of external control arms; and Post-Authorisation Efficacy & Safety Studies (PAES & PASS). It also supports the re-use and integration of clinical data with -omics and functional analysis the development of prognosis models combining advanced statistical and AI-based methods federated approaches combining algorithms and platform infrastructure and the extraction of unstructured data from electronic health records (EHR).
In this context we are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Data Manager to join our team and support this role you will lead the design of the CRF and database oversee data management and quality assurance and ensure data interoperability with other initiatives in the group. You will also act as a key point of contact between our research group and Academic Research Organisations (AROs) helping to bridge clinical biological and technical perspectives across projects.
Design of data collection tools
Standardisation of variable definitions
Assist in improving data collection and management processes to enhance data quality
Identify discrepancies or anomalies in data and coordinate resolution for data cleaning and validation processes
Act as the bridge between clinical teams IT and analysts ensuring that datasets are complete reliable well-documented and compliant with regulatory and ethical requirements.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals and statisticians to gather analyse and report data insights
University degree in Biomedical Sciences Health/Biomedical Informatics or a related field.
Fluency in Spanish and English (B2)
Training in Clinical Research Biostatistics Health Data Science or Clinical Data Management.
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification.
At least 1 year of experience working in clinical data management within clinical trials patient registries or observational studies including CRF design database build data cleaning and query management.
Hands-on experience with EDC/CDMS platforms (e.g. REDCap OpenClinica Castor or similar).
Strong attention to detail organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clinicians biostatisticians and external partners.
Prior experience working within or alongside an Academic Research Organisation (ARO) or Contract Research Organisation (CRO).
Experience supporting Post-Authorisation Efficacy & Safety Studies (PAES/PASS) or other pharmacovigilance-related data collection.
Basic proficiency in R or Python for data extraction and quality checks.
Labour conditions:
Working hours: Full-time (375 hours per week).
Starting date: As soon as possible.
Gross annual salary: Remuneration will be determined by experience skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale.
