The Data Engineering & Data Architecture function is responsible for the designing building and operating the enterprise data platform that underpins analytics reporting and data use cases across the Atradius organisation. The team works on an Azure-based data platform with Azure Databricks as the core technology enabling scalable data processing real-time analytics and governed data consumption. The function operates with a strong product mindset driving innovation automation and standardisation across all data domains.

As Data Engineering & Data Architecture Manager you will lead a multidisciplinary team of Data Engineers Data Platform Engineers and a Data Architect.

You will be responsible for:

• Defining and executing the data platform strategy and architecture
• Ensuring high-quality scalable and cost-efficient data solutions
• Bridging business needs and technical execution
• Driving standardisation governance and innovation across the data ecosystem
• Ensuring full automation of operational tasks and the data pipelines
• Ensuring compliance with evolving regulations standards and best practices globally

You will

• provide guidance coaching and professional development support to team members offering constructive feedback during 1:1s.

• Ensure effective delivery through an agile way-of-working
• Define and maintain the data platform vision roadmap and operating model
• Drive adoption and expansion of the data platform across business domains
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture cloud strategy and data strategy
• Own platform lifecycle: design build operate optimise
• Oversee the design and implementation of Batch and real-time data pipelines Lakehouse architectures (e.g. Medallion layers) as well as the data ingestion transformation and serving layers.
• Drive standardisation of ingestion frameworks data contracts and reusable components
• Ensure that platform reliability monitoring and support processes are in place
• Optimise Azure and Databricks resource usage and cost efficiency
• Implement monitoring alerting and performance tuning practices
• Ensure alignment with data governance frameworks and policies
• Promote data quality lineage ownership and traceability
• Collaborate with data governance and compliance teams
• Support implementation of data contracts and validation frameworks
• Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders engineering teams and architecture functions
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Build trusted and strong partnerships with business and IT stakeholders
• Support strategic initiatives and transformation programmes
  

What qualification should you have The ideal candidate will have the following profile:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Data Engineering or a related field
• 7 years of experience in data engineering / data platform environments with at least 3 years in a leadership role within data management.
• Proven experience with Azure data ecosystem and Databricks
• Excellent knowledge of:
  • Data platform architectures (Lakehouse Data Mesh concepts)
  • ETL/ELT streaming and real-time processing
  • Unity Catalog governance
  • Data modelling techniques
• Experience with DevOps/DataOps CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code
• It is a pre to have experience with:
  • Streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka Spark Structured Streaming)
  • Data contract frameworks
  • AI/ML data pipelines
• Experience managing complex multi-team data platforms in enterprise environments is a pre
• Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at various levels of the organisation.
• Fluent in English both spoken and written.
• Ability to travel occasionally (<10%)

Relevant certifications:

• Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional
• Azure Data Engineer (DP-203)

• Deep technical expertise combined with business understanding
