Disease Surveillance & Outbreak Project Officer

Job Summary
The Project Officer will support the planning implementation coordination monitoring and reporting of EVD preparedness and response interventions at county level. The officer will work closely with State County Departments of Health health facilities and community structures to ensure effective delivery of project activities and achievement of project objectives.
Key Roles and Responsibilities of the position holder will include but not limited to the following: -
1. Program Implementation and Coordination
- Coordinate day-to-day implementation of EVD preparedness and response activities in the assigned county.
- Support county and sub-county health teams in planning and execution of project interventions.
- Facilitate implementation of activities related to surveillance infection prevention and control (IPC) risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) and emergency preparedness.
- Ensure timely implementation of project work plans and adherence to approved timelines.
- Support the organization and coordination of meetings trainings simulations and supportive supervision activities.
2. Technical Support
- Provide technical assistance to county health teams on EVD preparedness and response interventions.
- Support dissemination and implementation of national EVD guidelines protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Facilitate strengthening of county rapid response mechanisms and preparedness capacities.
- Support monitoring of county and health facility preparedness and implementation of IPC standards.
3. Project monitoring and reporting
- Collect verify and compile project data and reports from field activities
- Monitor progress against project targets and identify implementation gaps.
- Prepare weekly monthly and activity reports and submit them to the EVD Response & Surge Coordinator.
- Document best practices lessons learned and success stories
- Support data quality assurance and timely reporting of project indicators.
4. Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination
- Maintain close collaboration with State and County Health Departments and relevant stakeholders.
- Support coordination with implementing partners community organizations and other actors involved in disease i.e. EVD preparedness and response.
- Participate in national and county task force coordination meetings and technical working groups as assigned.
- Foster strong relationships with community leaders and other stakeholders to support preparedness activities.
- Undertake any other duties assigned by the Project Manager to support effective implementation of the project.
Qualifications :
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in public health Nursing Clinical Medicine Epidemiology Community Health Health Systems Management or a related field.
Required Knowledge Skills Abilities and Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in public health programs emergency preparedness disease outbreak response or humanitarian programming.
- Experience supporting infectious disease preparedness and response activities is an added advantage.
- Experience working with government structures and health systems in South Sudan is desirable
- Demonstrated experience in project coordination monitoring and reporting
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Good understanding of public health emergency preparedness and response systems.
- Knowledge of Haemorrhagic Virus Diseases e.g. EVD preparedness and response interventions.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management tools
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Working Environment/Conditions
- Based in Juba with frequent travels and support to the high risk EVD counties of Western Equatoria State
