Job Purpose

To provide advanced technical support engineering expertise and operational leadership for the Windows Server estate. The role ensures the availability stability security and optimisation of server platforms while supporting business initiatives and driving continuous improvement across the environment. This includes designing and implementing solutions leading remediation and upgrade activities resolving complex incidents mentoring engineers and contributing to automation and operational excellence

Job Responsibilities
  • Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives (e.g. staff surveys etc.).
  • Participate and support corporate social responsibility initiatives for the achievement of key business strategies.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance processes; systems and policies and support implementation of new processes; policies and systems.
  • Mitigate risks in the event of windows operating system or software failure by collecting critical information; adhering to agreed procedures and executing standard fixes.
  • Identify problems by investigating potential and actual service problems; escalate and/ or apply standard fixes.
  • Support technology decisions by maintaining awareness of existing and emerging windows operating systems or software solutions.
  • Support the business process needs of the organization by performing a variety of technical tasks in the diagnosis; repair; maintenance and installation of window servers and/or related equipment.
  • Ensure compliance to relevant standards and policies by preparing and maintaining operational documentation for relevant systems.
  • Solve problems by independently addressing incidents of a standard nature.
  • Ensure smooth work flow by participating in Disaster Recovery (DR) procedures.
  • Ensure all work tasks are completed through adherence to organisational process.
  • Ensure client needs are met by participating in client progress reports.
  • Ensure customer needs are met by facilitating sign-off of designs by relevant stakeholders.
  • Keep abreast of legislation and other industry changes that impacts on role by reading the relevant newsletters; websites and attending sessions.
  • Understand and embrace the Nedbank vision and demonstrate the values through interaction with team and stakeholders.
  • Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments in field of expertise by identifying training courses and career progression for self through input and feedbackfrom managers.
  • Ensure personal growth and enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities by ensuring all learning activities are completed; experience practiced andcertifications obtained and/or maintained within specified time frames.
  • Monitor system efficiency against published service level agreements (SLA) through collection of performance data.
  • Ensure operational cost reduction by ensuring overtime and time are captured correctly and timeously.
  • Ensure due dates for report delivery are met by running reports that support team decisions.
  • Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives (e.g. staff surveys etc.).
  • Ensure service availability and compliance with SLA requirements.
  • Ensure 99% Windows OS Patch compliance and vulnerability remediations
  • Act as an escalation point for technical challenges impacting critical business services.
  • Ensure optimal platform performance stability and availability through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
  • Support clustered high-availability virtualised and cloud-based Windows environments.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Essential Certifications
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals Certification
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator Certification
Minimum Experience Level
  • 3 years experience supporting and administering Windows Server environments.
  • Experience in enterprise infrastructure operations and support.
  • Experience managing incidents problems changes and service requests within a structured IT environment.
  • Experience with server patching vulnerability remediation and security compliance activities.
  • Experience participating in infrastructure projects upgrades migrations and platform modernisation initiatives.
