City of Newcastle (CN) is seeking a strategic and user-focussed Web Experience Designer to lead the design of high-priority customer journeys across the CN web ecosystem with a particularly focus on our corporate website.
This is a fixed-term opportunity through to June 2027 offering the chance to play a key role in shaping how our community interacts with Council in a major digital uplift program.
In this role you will drive the design of intuitive seamless and user-centred digital experiences that enable customers to efficiently find information and complete tasks without needing to contact Council. You will apply service design and user experience (UX) principles to analyse design and continuously improve key journeys with a strong focus on usability navigation accessibility and content discoverability.
As a member of our team you wont just work for the city; youll co-create it. Here your ideas and efforts directly shape the places where you and your community live work and play.
Working closely with the Content Designer and Web Content Editors you will ensure that design and content work together to create clear effective pathways and meaningful interactions. You will take a holistic approach to the user experience improving information architecture refining navigation and ensuring digital services are aligned to user needs while supporting organisational objectives.
You will engage with stakeholders across CN to understand customer needs identify pain points and translate insights into practical impactful design solutions. Your ability to influence and collaborate will be key in keeping user-centred design at the heart of decision-making.
Your strong experience in UX and service design along with a passion for creating accessible and effective digital experiences will see you well placed for success in this role. You will thrive in a dynamic environment be comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on design work and be motivated by delivering better outcomes for the community.

Remuneration: $123663.63 17.5% annual leave loading yearly payment 12% Superannuation per annum for a 35-hour week
