Turner Artisan

ROLE OVERVIEW:

To manufacture repair maintain and refurbish mechanical components and equipment used in fishing operations cold storage facilities and marine vessels.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Machining and Fabrication

• Operate conventional and/or CNC lathes milling machines drilling machines and grinding equipment.
• Manufacture and repair shafts bushes sleeves bearings pulleys couplings and other mechanical components.
• Perform precision measurements using micrometers verniers dial indicators and other measuring instruments.

2. Maintenance and Repairs

• Conduct maintenance and repair work on fish processing equipment and factory machinery.
• Assist with breakdown repairs to minimize operational downtime.
• Refurbish worn mechanical components to extend equipment life.
• Support planned maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance schedules.

3. Vessel and Marine Support

• Carry out machining and repair work on vessel components where required.
• Repair shafts pump components winch parts hydraulic system components and other marine equipment.
  Assist during vessel maintenance periods and dry-docking activities
  

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade Test Certificate as a Turner Artisan (Red Seal preferred).
• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years post-trade experience in a marine fishing or engineering environment.
• Experience operating conventional lathes and milling machines.
• Marine or fishing industry experience will be advantageous.

• Mechanical maintenance principles.
• Engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Precision measurement techniques.
  Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.
• Basic welding and fabrication knowledge advantageous
