Job Summary
Salary: R50000 R55000 CTC per month ( standby allowance)
Working Conditions: On-site role within a 24/7 high-availability operations environment. Includes rotational standby/on-call duties (evenings weekends and public holidays). Incident-driven environment requiring after-hours support during critical outages.
A leading BPO organisation operating high-availability multi-site IT infrastructure environments.
Senior Systems Engineer responsible for maintaining and supporting enterprise server cloud and infrastructure environments ensuring 99.99% uptime across production systems. Works closely with the Network Engineer and reports directly to the CTO. Supports multi-site operations (local and international) within a 24/7 environment and participates in standby/on-call rotation.
- Windows and Linux server administration (on-prem and cloud environments)
- Active Directory DNS DHCP and Group Policy management
- VMware / Hyper-V virtualisation administration
- Storage systems management (SAN NAS DAS)
- Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory support
- Backup disaster recovery and business continuity management
- High availability clustering and failover configuration
- Monitoring incident response and root cause analysis (RCA)
- Patch management and vulnerability remediation
- Security compliance support (ISO 27001 / SOC 2 / PCI-DSS awareness)
- Vendor management and escalation handling
- Infrastructure documentation and change management
- Capacity planning and performance optimisation
- Automation and scripting (PowerShell / Bash advantageous)
- 56 years Systems Engineering / Senior Systems Administration experience
- Minimum 2 years in a BPO or shared services environment
- Experience in 24/7 operational environments with standby duties
- Strong Windows Server and Linux administration experience
- VMware / Hyper-V virtualisation experience
- Active Directory Azure AD Microsoft 365 exposure
- Backup and disaster recovery experience (enterprise environments)
- Understanding of Azure and/or AWS cloud environments
- Exposure to security frameworks (ISO 27001 / SOC 2 / PCI-DSS)
- Microsoft AZ-800/801 or AZ-104
- VMware VCP
- RHCSA
- ITIL Foundation
- Thrives in high-pressure high-availability environments
- Strong troubleshooting and incident management capability
- Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong collaboration across IT security and vendors
- High accountability and ownership mindset
- Ability to mentor and support junior team members
