Role Purpose


The Support Resource Officer (Dispatcher) is responsible for coordinating emergency response vehicles using a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to ensure timely assistance to incidents.
The role also involves assisting in receiving logging and prioritising both emergency and non-emergency calls while determining the appropriate response and level of care required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dispatch emergency vehicles in accordance with CAD system protocols
  • Receive prioritise and log incoming emergency and non-emergency calls
  • Process and coordinate incident alerts efficiently
  • Support the contact centre with general administrative tasks
  • Ensure accurate data capturing and communication during high-pressure situations
Requirements


Essential:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Exposure to a Contact Centre or Emergency Contact Centre environment


Advantageous:

  • BAA / Level 3 First Aid Certification
  • 1-3 years experience in dispatching within an EMS contact centre
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Knowledge of dispatch systems and vehicle coordination
  • Understanding of emergency care environments
  • Excellent typing skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English
  • Knowledge of geographical locations
  • Professional telephonic and email etiquette
  • Ability to perform under pressure in time-critical situations
