Job Summary

The SAE Institute Johannesburg Campus is looking for a Student WIL Facilitator to join their academic team.

The purpose of this position is to secure placement opportunities/collaborative industry-student projects for students registered across programmes in the creative media industry during the scheduled WIL blocks of the semester.

The role includes identifying partners (studios agencies production companies) which might involve visiting them to establish and maintain ongoing relationships with industry partners. The role will also be responsible for providing and evaluating feedback through institutional and industry partner channels. The facilitator will induct students prepare them for the work environment support and monitor/grade their conduct and progress.


Requirements

A NQF 8 qualification in Film Animation Gaming or Sound

A minimum of 5 years of work experience within the creative media sector

A minimum of two years of lecturing experience within one of the relevant specializations at an educational institution

Established network within the creative media industry

Own transport and drivers license

Essential Skills:

Good project management administration and coordination skills

Experience in working and grading student work on an LMS system

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

Ability to support and guide students through their WIL journey and challenges

Qualities:

Passionate about industry and student career prospects

Professional conduct in representing the institution

Initiative in creating placement or industry-student collaboration opportunities

Organised and attention to detail


Key Responsibilities of the role:

Identify coordinate administer and secure placement opportunities for students during their WIL blocks

Coordinate the student selection process to ensure all student cohorts across disciplines meet the required WIL hours.

Build grow and maintain industry relationship networks to secure ongoing opportunities that exist

Ensure a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between SAE and the industry partner are in place and signed before placement.

Communicate and confirm placement with the student and parent/sponsor at least two weeks prior to placement

Analyse and provide feedback on industry partner requirements and trends to advance student placement

Induct and prepare students for the workplace and provide support and guidance

Grade and provide feedback to student WIL submissions and track and report on their progress

Provide evidence or conduct disciplinary action for the breach of the student code of conduct

Administer and record evidence to meet the institutions internal quality assurance requirements and standards
