Job Summary

Sous Chef Luxury Hotel Cape Town

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef for a luxury hotel based in Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to join a high-performing kitchen team within a premium hospitality environment.

The successful candidate will support the senior kitchen leadership in overseeing daily kitchen operations ensuring consistent food quality maintaining high hygiene standards and contributing to the smooth delivery of service across all kitchen sections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and supporting daily kitchen operations in line with senior management direction
  • Assisting with planning organising and coordinating kitchen workflows and service delivery
  • Ensuring high standards of food preparation presentation and timing at all times
  • Preparing and cooking dishes to required standards and assisting across all sections when needed
  • Supporting menu planning and recipe development alongside senior chefs
  • Training mentoring and supporting junior kitchen staff
  • Ensuring compliance with strict health safety and hygiene standards
  • Assisting with stock control ordering and monitoring kitchen supplies
  • Managing stock rotation and minimising food wastage
  • Assisting with stock takes and monitoring kitchen costs
  • Supporting recipe management updates and staff training on new dishes
  • Ensuring all kitchen areas are clean organised and properly maintained
  • Assisting with staff performance management and operational discipline where required
  • Ensuring all equipment is maintained and reporting any faults or hazards
  • Supporting general kitchen administration and operational duties as required

Requirements:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Professional Cookery
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar kitchen role
  • Strong culinary skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Solid understanding of kitchen operations stock control and food costing
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership qualities with a hands-on approach
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Passion for culinary excellence and continuous improvement

Package:

  • Salary negotiable depending on experience
  • Live-out position
