Job Description

A well-established non-profit organisation within the community development and child welfare sector is seeking an experienced and passionate Social Worker to join their team inPaarl Valley.

This organisation works alongside families caring for orphaned and vulnerable children by providing resources support and developmental assistance aimed at strengthening families and improving long-term wellbeing. This role offers an opportunity for a dedicated social work professional to make a meaningful impact within vulnerable communities while working within a supportive and purpose-driven environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting family development initiatives conducting psychosocial interventions and assisting families navigating complex social challenges.

Responsibilities:

Programme Development & Family Support:
Assist with the development and implementation of family development programmes and support initiatives.
Coordinate the identification and intake process for new beneficiary families.
Conduct home visits to beneficiary families within the operational area.
Assist families with required documentation applications and administrative processes.

Counselling & Psychosocial Support:
Conduct psychosocial assessments and oversee beneficiary care plans.
Participate in case conferences and family interviews.
Provide counselling and psychosocial interventions using relevant therapeutic techniques and approaches.
Provide individual and group counselling to families and caregivers within programme structures.
Support families navigating complex social and emotional challenges.

Community Engagement & Stakeholder Relations:
Develop and communicate information regarding community resources and support services available to beneficiaries and caregivers.
Refer beneficiaries and families to appropriate support and intervention services where required.
Build and maintain effective referral systems and professional stakeholder networks.
Design and facilitate training modules for beneficiaries staff members and partner organisations.

Administration & Reporting:
Maintain accurate and detailed client records intervention notes and case documentation.
Compile monthly reports and programme-related documentation.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborative case discussions.
Ensure all work is conducted within the ethical framework and scope of practice of the social work profession.

Requirements:

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree or equivalent qualification.
Current registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) is non-negotiable.
Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience as a Social Worker.
Sound understanding of statutory foster care processes and related requirements.
Proven leadership ability and experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
Sound knowledge of South African social policies legislation orphan care foster care processes and the Mental Health Care Act.
Valid Code B drivers licence and own reliable vehicle.
Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint.
Fluent in both Afrikaans and English (written and spoken).
Proficiency in Xhosa will be highly advantageous.
