Our client is seeking an experienced Shipping Document Controller to manage import and export documentation for shipments into Africa. The role involves preparing and checking shipping documents tracking containers and coordinating with factories banks and customers to ensure accurate documentation and timely clearance at destination.
Responsibilities
Prepare commercial invoices packing lists and documentation for letters of credit.
Ensure bills of lading and other shipping documents are issued correctly.
Confirm and amend shipping documents with factories as required.
Track containers and shipping documents and maintain accurate status reports.
Follow up daily with factories to ensure original documents are issued on time.
Send original shipping documents to customers on time for clearance at destination.
Coordinate with billing teams relevant offices factories banks and customers to meet documentation requirements.
Maintain supply chain documentation in accordance with company quality requirements.
Report documentation and shipment issues to management.
Requirements
Matric certificate.
A diploma or degree in logistics would be advantageous.
At least three years logistics experience including experience working in an office environment.
Cross-trade knowledge and experience.
Knowledge of export documentation requirements and compliance inspection documents including COC SONCAP and ECTN.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
Experience working with logistics systems including NERP.
Strong administrative organisational and time-management skills.
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy when handling shipping documentation.
