Function/Department: Technical support and Maintenance of Recycling &
Bitumen Plant
Purpose: The SHEQ & Security Manager is responsible forleading the development implementation andmaintenance of integrated management systemsfor Safety Health Environment Quality andphysical this dual-focus role the managerensures that an organisation complies with statutoryregulations while protecting personnel assets and theenvironment
Reporting to: C.E.O
Authority over: Health & Safety Officers
Requirements:
Education: Bachelors degree or NationalDiploma in Safety Management EnvironmentalScience Quality Management or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experiencein a similar leadership role preferably in industrialmanufacturing or multi-site environments.
Certifications: Recognised certifications (e.g.SAMTRAC NEBOSH IOSH) are highlyadvantageous.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding ofISO and 45001 as well as localOHS and security legislation (e.g. PSIRA in SA).
Skills: Strong leadership communication andproblem-solving abilities with proficiency in MSOffice and relevant SHEQ software.
Skills andcompetences Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of emulsion chemistry and plastic moulding or extrusion technologies.
- Proficiency in World Class Manufacturing
- (WCM) standards and ISO Quality Management Systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
Attributes: Strong analytical thinking commercialacumen for budget management and the ability tooperate in high-pressure unionizedenvironments.
Key Performanceareas:
Core Responsibilities & Duties
1. SHEQ Management & Compliance
Policy Development: Create maintain andenforce SHEQ policies procedures and systemsin line with local legislation (e.g. OHS Act inSouth Africa) and ISO standards (ISO 45001).
Risk Management: Conduct routine riskassessments hazard identification and siteinspections to proactively identify risks and ensurecorrective actions are taken.
Auditing: Lead internal and external audits toensure compliance with standards and statutoryobligations.
Incident Investigation: Investigate incidentsaccidents and near-misses conducting rootcause analysis and implementing preventativemeasures.
Compliance Monitoring: Ensure legalcompliance with environmental health safetyand quality regulations.
2. Security Operations
Site Security: Plan and implement securitystrategies to protect people property and assetsfrom damage or harm.
Access Control: Oversee security personnelaccess control systems CCTV monitoring andalarm systems.
Incident Response: Coordinate responses tosecurity breaches emergencies and threats.
Security Audits: Perform security vulnerabilityassessments and implement preventativemeasures.
3. Training Leadership and Reporting
Training & Awareness: Deliver safety traininginductions and awareness programs to staff andcontractors.
Reporting: Monitor SHEQ performance metricsprepare and submit reports to seniormanagement regarding compliance and incidenttrends.
Contractor Management: Oversee subcontractorcompliance with SHEQ and security standards.
