An established engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Draughtsman to join its technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate 2D and 3D mechanical drawings for HVAC ventilation and air-movement systems including detailed manufacturing fabrication and assembly drawings. This role requires a technically strong draughtsperson with proven SolidWorks experience and a sound understanding of mechanical design fabrication and manufacturing processes.

An established engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Draughtsman to join its technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate 2D and 3D mechanical drawings for HVAC ventilation and air-movement systems including detailed manufacturing fabrication and assembly drawings. This role requires a technically strong draughtsperson with proven SolidWorks experience and a sound understanding of mechanical design fabrication and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings.
- Produce manufacturing fabrication and assembly drawings.
- Develop drawings for fans ducting ventilation systems air-handling equipment and associated mechanical components.
- Interpret engineering designs specifications and technical requirements.
- Prepare drawing revisions and design modifications when required.
- Ensure drawings comply with project specifications and applicable engineering standards.
- Review drawings for accuracy dimensions tolerances and manufacturability.
- Work closely with Engineers Manufacturing Production and other technical departments.
- Ensure designs are practical and suitable for manufacture and fabrication.
- Provide technical support to production and fabrication teams.
- Assist with resolving design fabrication and manufacturing queries.
- Maintain accurate drawing documentation and revisions.
- Complete drawings accurately and within agreed project deadlines.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Draughtsman / Senior Mechanical Draughtsman.
- Strong practical experience using SolidWorks.
- Experience within an engineering manufacturing HVAC ventilation or mechanical fabrication environment.
- Good understanding of mechanical drawings manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings specifications and technical documentation.
- Valid drivers license.
- Own reliable transport.
- Good computer literacy.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good mathematical and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary technical team.
- National Diploma Diploma or relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering Mechanical Draughting or a related discipline.
- Sheet-metal design and fabrication experience.
- Experience with ducting systems.
- HVAC or ventilation industry experience.
- Fan or air-movement equipment experience.
- Experience preparing fabrication and manufacturing drawings.
- Accurate and detail orientated.

- Monday to Thursday: 08:00 16:45
- Friday: 08:00 15:00 subject to operational requirements and completion of work
