Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer Water Infrastructure Optimisation to lead the assessment optimisation rehabilitation and performance improvement of water infrastructure systems. This role is ideal for a professionally registered engineer who is passionate about improving water security operational efficiency and the long-term sustainability of municipal and industrial water assets.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across projects involving water distribution networks pump stations reservoirs treatment facilities and bulk water infrastructure while mentoring junior engineers and engaging with key stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer Water Infrastructure Optimisation to lead the assessment optimisation rehabilitation and performance improvement of water infrastructure systems. This role is ideal for a professionally registered engineer who is passionate about improving water security operational efficiency and the long-term sustainability of municipal and industrial water assets.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across projects involving water distribution networks pump stations reservoirs treatment facilities and bulk water infrastructure while mentoring junior engineers and engaging with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Lead technical assessments and optimisation studies for water infrastructure systems.
Develop innovative solutions to improve hydraulic performance reliability and operational efficiency.
Perform hydraulic modelling network analysis and infrastructure capacity assessments.
Design and review upgrades to bulk water pipelines reservoirs pump stations and associated infrastructure.
Identify opportunities for energy efficiency non-revenue water reduction and asset lifecycle optimisation.
Prepare feasibility studies technical reports business cases and engineering specifications.
Manage multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through implementation.
Oversee contract administration construction monitoring commissioning and quality assurance.
Liaise with municipalities utilities contractors and regulatory authorities.
Ensure compliance with South African engineering standards water legislation and environmental requirements.
Mentor graduate and junior engineers while contributing to technical excellence within the organisation.

Minimum Requirements

BEng/BSc (Civil Engineering) or equivalent qualification.
Minimum 5years experience in water infrastructure engineering preferably within a consulting or municipal environment.
Proven experience with:
- Water distribution and reticulation systems
- Bulk water pipelines
- Pump stations and reservoirs
- Hydraulic modelling and network optimisation
- Water treatment infrastructure
- Infrastructure rehabilitation and asset management
Strong understanding of project management and contract administration.
Valid drivers licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
