Senior DevOpsSRE Cloud Engineer

Our client is looking for a Senior DevOps / SRE Cloud Engineer to take ownership of their Azure-based Kubernetes environment. This is a fully remote opportunity for a South African professional with strong Kubernetes Azure Terraform and SRE experience.

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent practical experience
5 years experience in DevOps SRE or Platform Engineering
23 years experience running Kubernetes workloads in production
2 years experience with Azure
Strong production experience with Azure AKS
Strong Kubernetes experience including Helm operators node pools troubleshooting upgrades and capacity planning
Strong Terraform experience with modular Infrastructure as Code
Experience with Docker and containerisation
Strong GitHub Actions and CI/CD experience
Experience with Prometheus and Grafana
Strong Linux and Bash scripting skills
Experience with Azure Key Vault Entra ID managed identities and Azure networking
Strong understanding of secrets management and cloud security
Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Advantageous:

Experience with Apache Spark Trino Hive Metastore or Delta Lake
Python experience
SQL Server and PostgreSQL administration
OpenTelemetry and OpenLineage
Experience with multi-tenant or regulated-data environments
Azure or CKA certification

Key Responsibilities

Operate and maintain production Kubernetes clusters and Azure infrastructure
Manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
Build and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines
Own monitoring alerting dashboards and SLOs
Manage secrets identity networking and security across environments
Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability
Partner with engineering teams to optimise performance and scalability
Lead incident response and contribute to capacity planning
