Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Cold Storage Manager to join the Port Elizabeth team
- Oversee day-to-day operations of cold storage facilities (chilled and frozen environments)
- Ensure efficient receiving storage picking and dispatch of goods
- Drive productivity and performance across all shifts
- Implement best practices in warehouse management
- Ensure compliance with: HACCP and ISO standards
- Maintain strict temperature control and monitoring systems
- Minimise product spoilage losses and waste
- Ensure audit readiness at all times
- Lead mentor and develop a high-performing operations team
- Manage workforce planning in cold environments
- Promote a strong safety culture and enforce PPE compliance
- Conduct performance reviews and training programs
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA)
- Manage risks associated with cold environments and machinery
- Maintain incident reporting investigations and corrective actions
- Manage operational budgets (labour energy equipment)
- Drive cost-saving initiatives (particularly energy efficiency)
- Oversee refrigeration systems and cold room infrastructure
- Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules
- Work closely with engineering/service providers
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Bachelors Degree or Diploma in: Supply Chain Management Logistics or Operations Management
- Additional certifications advantageous: HACCP NEBOSH / Safety certification Lean / Six Sigma
- 810 years in warehouse/logistics environment
- Minimum 5 years in cold storage or cold chain management
- Proven experience managing large teams and complex operations
- Experience in food FMCG sectors preferred
- Candidate must reside in the Port Elizabeth / Uitenhage area
Required Skills:
