Senior Android Mobile Engineer (DevOps)

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Android Mobile Engineer to join their team responsible for designing developing maintaining and optimising Android applications deployed on custom Android devices for Point of Sale and payment solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for building scalable and high-performing mobile applications contributing to technical architecture supporting CI/CD pipelines and ensuring software quality throughout the development lifecycle. This role requires strong Kotlin and Java development skills expert knowledge of Android SDK and architecture and experience with DevOps practices automated testing and continuous delivery. The successful candidate will work closely with Product QA Engineering and Operations teams provide technical leadership mentor developers and support production deployments and ongoing application improvements.

Experience:

7 years of Android Application Development experience

Demonstrated experience with Kotlin development

Strong experience with Java development

Experience with Android SDK mobile architecture and design patterns

Experience developing applications for custom Android devices

Experience integrating APIs and backend services

Experience with DevOps practices CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes

Experience with Azure DevOps and Azure Pipelines

Experience with Git version control

Experience with mobile application performance optimisation

Experience with offline data storage and synchronisation

Experience with ObjectBox database advantageous

Experience with automated testing frameworks including Espresso and JUnit

Experience with Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Cloud Messaging

Experience working in Agile software development environments

Experience with application maintenance defect resolution and production support

Experience mentoring developers and contributing to code reviews and technical architecture decisions

Strong mobile application performance optimisation skills

Experience with offline data storage and synchronisation

Experience with ObjectBox database

Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server

Experience with testing frameworks such as Espresso and JUnit

Experience with Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Cloud Messaging

Familiarity with Java Kotlin Compose Android SDK Material 3 and XML UI development

Experience with Retrofit Dagger Hilt Kotlin Coroutines and WorkManager

Familiarity with LaunchDarkly and feature management tools advantageous

Experience with Sunmi and Urovo Android devices advantageous

Ability to identify and resolve software defects integration issues performance bottlenecks and production incidents

Ability to maintain and enhance existing software systems

Understanding of application security quality assurance and development governance standards
