Our client is looking for the following candidate to join the core SAP Engineering team within the Group IT Hub South Africa focusing on the standardization of business partner master data on a global scale. The Hub provides comprehensive IT solutions such as Development and Operations for SAP JAVA Azure and Cloud environments across the global Group landscape.

• Core ABAP & Distribution Expertise: 2 5 years of strong technical experience in SAP ABAP Development including deep practical knowledge of ABAP Objects and distribution technologies such as IDoc and OData.

• Master Data & Migration Focus: Hands-on capabilities focused on developing functionalities to distribute enhance or create Master Data within S/4HANA or ECC environments while supporting critical tracks like SAP RISE migrations.

• Collaborative Delivery: A mostly autonomous software engineer who can adapt requests to business standards refine user stories and collaborate via flexibility and compromise to reach shared team objectives.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field (or similar qualification).

• 2 5 years of commercial experience as an SAP ABAP (Full Stack) developer.

• SAP ABAP Certification is considered beneficial.

Essential Skills & Technologies:

SAP Development & Core Stack:

• 2 5 years of experience in ABAP Development including ABAP Objects.

• 2 5 years of experience with distribution technologies: IDoc and OData.

• Proven technical theory merged with practical implementation across software development cycles.

Operational Frameworks:

• Ability to validate that solutions engineered by others accurately address identified business problems.

• Capacity to assume additional responsibilities assigned under the Agile Working Model (AWM) Charter.

Advantageous Skills:

• Direct experience with S/4HANA and HANA technologies.

• Hands-on experience with SAP UI5 frontend development.

• Prior experience working with or maintaining SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) applications.

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaboration tools (Confluence and JIRA).

• Basic conceptual understanding of Cloud solutions integrating with SAP S/4HANA systems.

• Basic understanding of streaming or messaging technologies such as Apache Kafka.

• Flexibility to work occasional weekends shifts or extended hours if required by project go-lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Master Data Development: Design develop and maintain new backend and frontend functionalities to distribute enhance or create Business Partner Master Data in S/4HANA or ECC.

• Application Governance: Enhance and maintain core SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) applications to ensure enterprise data integrity.

• Migration Support: Actively enable and support the broader SAP RISE Migration strategy and related system conversions.

• Requirements Refinement: Participate in technical and functional refinement sessions to break down complex requirements Epics and User Stories into clear deliverable tasks.

• Comprehensive Testing: Lead automated testing tracks (including ABAP Unit tests and end-to-end frontend validations using Tosca) alongside manual functional testing of your own and team code.

• Operations & 3rd Level Support: Drive operational excellence by taking ownership of 3rd level Problem Management topics assigned to the feature team adhering strictly to Quality and SLA criteria.
