Are you a CA(SA) or CIMA-qualified finance professional with strong management accounting and cost management experience An opportunity is available within a large complex financial services environment for an Opex Controller who will take ownership of the operating cost base and provide meaningful financial insight to senior stakeholders.
This is more than a reporting role. You will be responsible for understanding how costs are incurred allocated and reported while challenging cost owners and driving greater discipline around budgeting forecasting procurement and expenditure.

- Manage and consolidate operating expenditure across multiple entities and cost centres.
- Prepare monthly reporting and provide variance analysis against budget forecast and prior periods.
- Lead the annual opex budgeting process and maintain rolling forecasts.
- Challenge cost centre owners on expenditure assumptions and variances.
- Conduct detailed reviews of major expense categories and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Manage cost allocations intercompany charges and group recharges.
- Develop dashboards and reporting to improve visibility of operating costs.
- Support ERP and process improvement initiatives including automation of reporting.
- Monitor procurement compliance and expenditure controls.
- Develop and implement expenditure policies and controls.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
- Act as a finance business partner to cost centre owners and senior stakeholders.
- CA(SA) newly qualified or with up to approximately three years post-qualification experience.
- CIMA with equivalent experience will be considered.
- Articles completed at a recognized professional services or audit firm.
- Experience in management accounting cost reporting budgeting or opex management.
- Multi-entity and intercompany experience.
- Financial Services payments or fintech exposure advantageous.
- Strong ERP experience; Microsoft Dynamics 365 exposure advantageous.
- SOX or similar control environment exposure advantageous.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
- Strong analytical communication and stakeholder management skills.
