Residence Manager

Job Summary
We are recruiting a proactive Residence Manager on behalf of a client to oversee the day-to-day operations of a student accommodation property. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who can balance property management student engagement facilities oversight compliance and operational excellence while ensuring a positive residential experience for students.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the overall operations of the residence ensuring facilities buildings grounds and equipment are maintained to the highest standard.
- Lead intake and vacate processes including room inspections key management student allocations and maintenance coordination.
- Oversee maintenance activities service providers contractors refurbishments repairs audits and compliance requirements.
- Ensure Occupational Health and Safety standards are adhered to across the property.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students contractors service providers and key stakeholders.
- Manage student affairs complaints disciplinary matters and support student wellbeing initiatives in collaboration with the student life team.
- Maintain accurate records reports asset registers maintenance logs access control systems and operational documentation.
- Assist with budgeting expenditure control financial reporting and monthly management reporting requirements.
- Supervise site staff including maintenance personnel and support teams while driving operational efficiency and service excellence.
- Support student events residence programmes and initiatives aimed at enhancing the student accommodation experience.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
- Additional property management training and/or a maintenance or building management background will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 6 years relevant experience including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
- Essential experience within student accommodation management.
- Strong understanding of property management principles leasing agreements service contracts maintenance processes and budgeting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property management systems.
- Excellent leadership communication problem-solving planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to build relationships manage multiple priorities and maintain high levels of professionalism.
- Demonstrated initiative attention to detail integrity and a student-focused approach.
