Our client is seeking an experienced Raw Materials Buyer to manage the end-to-end local procurement of raw materials and consumables required for production. The role focuses on securing the right quality quantity price and supply while supporting cost-effective sustainable and compliant procurement practices.
Responsibilities
- Purchase raw materials goods and services at the required quality quantity price and time to maximise value.
- Manage a capable and secure supplier base using sound procurement practices.
- Execute sourcing projects including supplier negotiations and implementation of agreed solutions.
- Place expedite and reconcile purchase orders using SAGE data and internal requirements.
- Resolve supplier payment issues and blocked invoice queries.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to support procurement and operational requirements.
- Maintain procurement budgets sourcing portfolios spend supply planning and KPI information.
- Identify and communicate supply risks to relevant stakeholders.
- Log and resolve claims raised against suppliers.
- Support compliance with applicable procurement policies procedures and governance requirements.
Requirements
- 3-year BCom degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management Procurement Commerce or a related field.
- SAPICS or CIPS certification is advantageous.
- 35 years experience in a strategic sourcing or procurement-related role.
- Experience within manufacturing FMCG chemical or retail industries.
- Proven experience in sourcing project execution including supplier negotiations and solution implementation.
- Experience with new product development (NPD) processes.
- Knowledge of procurement governance strategic sourcing and the BBBEE Scorecard.
- Knowledge of raw materials production processes quality control and costs.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Experience working with SAGE data for purchasing activities.
