Job Summary

Position Summary:

To support this mission Syngentas CP Production & supply team is seeking an experienced Quality Manager at our Brits site in South Africa. This role requires broad awareness of OHSA 16.2 and/or 8.2.i appointment responsibilities and will be accountable for site Quality Control and Assurance providing scientific technical and subject matter expertise to support safe compliant and effective production.

The successful candidate will lead the delivery and continuous improvement of quality services manage complex regional or global projects and ensure that quality principles systems and risk management practices support site operational and strategic goals.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development implementation and management of the Quality Management Systems projects improvement initiatives and inspection plans to manage the site quality control and quality assurance activities
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory industry and company Quality legal requirements policy and standards
  • Manages budget and resources allocated to own area
  • Identifying and driving innovation ideas for new analytical technology or improved processes
  • Influencing regional technical strategy in area of analytical expertise leading to advancement of local analytical capability/technology
  • Translating Regional and Global functional policies practices and direction for own area of influence
  • Providing advice and supporting employees to enable their effective management of Quality activities on site
  • Solving complex problems and developing solutions to problem areas
  • Driving the Quality risk assessments processes
  • Managing the sites Integrated Management System and ISO standards 9001
  • Ensuring availability and execution of proper Quality training interventions (mandatory & occupation-related)
  • Reporting incidents unsafe or unhealthy conditions to the employer and health and safety representative timeously
  • Operating within the ambits of Syngenta policies procedures and values and in line with the Companys Code of Conduct

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in qualifications in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry
  • Minimum 7- 10 years of laboratory experience in a production facility with 3-5 years of leadership experience at a production site in relevant chemical industry
  • Professional certification in ASQ CQA and/or CQE desirable
  • Quality Control laboratory experience desirable
  • Extensive experience in implementing working on and auditing quality systems
  • Strong communication skills to ensure sharing location based best practices
  • Working knowledge of ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 standards desired
  • Mastery of techniques/methods/scientific theories and subject matter expertise
  • Exceptional leadership skills managing and motivating a team
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate network on a local regional and global level across functions
  • Medically fit to undertake responsibilities on a production site
  • Valid Drivers License
