Job Summary
The Quality Controller (Night Shift) ensure adherence to good Hygiene practices food safety and Product Quality during the storage and loading of products at the Centurion Distribution Centre.
Responsible for ensuring that food products and facility meet required standards set by their customers and regulatory authorities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma/ Degree in Food Technology or Biotechnology
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 1-3 years of experience in quality control preferably in manufacturing food processing or a similar environment.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Computer literacy microbiology understanding of Product quality in the food industry.
SKILLS REQUIRED

- Knowledge of ISO 9001 HACCP or other relevant quality systems (depending on industry).
- Familiarity with inspection techniques sampling methods and quality measurement tools.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Numeracy Skills to calibrate and measure specifications
- Technical skills to undersatnd technical documents manuals and blueprints to ensure that products meet the correct standard

- Conduct routine inspections of all finished products received and dispatched to ensure compliance with company and regulatory quality standards.
- Complete the receiving and distribution check and attach to the Loading pack.
- Product temperature should be measured with a Thermapen probe thermometer.
- Issues COC for all product loaded
- Make sure all product received have also a COC. If not available contact the supplier directly.
- When there is product which need to be loaded out during nightshift but there is no QC then the documents for loading should be completed before hand.
- Monitor storage of product to ensure adherence to Good Storage Practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Dust FIFO FEFO Box damages stock rotation
- FIFO and FEFO need to be checked per isle per pailet Visual inspection-NOT on a system
- Identify and report non-conformances and assist in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Communicate effectively with Distribution centre teams and quality teams (of respective processing plants) to resolve quality-related issues.
- Place non-conforming product on hold and issue a report to the relevant department for investigation.
- Move affected product to QC isle until matter resolved
- Complete an investigation form
- Time frame is 5 working days to resolve the issue
- Once resolved complete the Customer return checklist with your findings.
- When released remove physically and on system from the On Hold QC warehouse.
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits as required.
- Ensure thermometer is calibration yearly
- Ensure the Temperature Gauges of storage facilities are calibrated
- Check daily that the temperature gauges of the storage facilities are correct and corresponding to the report send.
- Monitor the temperature of the product inside the warehouse blast freezer.
- Attach the record of freezing to the receiving sheet and off-load pack
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
- Ensure proper handling storage and labelling of products according to food safety or industry-specific requirements.
- After receiving product product need to be moved into the Storage areas within 2 hours.
- When product is received as fresh but should be a frozen product then you must ensure it is transferred to the blast freezer to freeze.
- Monitoring of product inside the blast freezers until it is frozen
- Reporting Reporting daily issues/solutions to the Logistics administrator or Line manager Senior Quality Manager
