Job Summary
Purpose of the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings sketches and specifications to plan and set out work
- Mark off cut shape bend and fabricate plate sections and structural steel to specification
- Weld using MIG arc (SMAW) and TIG / flux-core processes including structural and repair welding
- Carry out repairs and modifications on buckets chutes bins liners conveyor structures trailers and yellow plant components
- Operate workshop equipment safely including rollers guillotines press brakes grinders and gas cutting equipment
- Perform on-site repairs and breakdown work as required including shutdowns
- Check own work for accuracy quality and fit-up before handover
- Complete job cards material usage records and safety documentation accurately
- Follow all health and safety procedures site rules and PPE requirements
- Keep tools equipment and the work area clean maintained and in good order
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (or N2 equivalent)
- Red Seal Trade Test Certificate as a Boilermaker (non-negotiable)
- Minimum 3-5 years post-qualification experience
- Proven welding and fabrication experience in a heavy industrial mining or plant environment
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Valid drivers licence (Code B / EB / C1) and own reliable transport
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical and site access requirements
Advantageous
- Coded welder certification
- Experience in plant hire mining maintenance or earthmoving equipment repair
- Working at heights and confined space tickets
- Experience on mine sites and shutdown work
- Residing in or near Ermelo
