Procurement Officer

About the role

Sea Harvest is one of South Africas leading fishing and food companies with a proud heritage and a reputation for quality that reaches tables around the world. Our Procurement Department at South Arm V&A Waterfront is looking for a sharp commercially minded Procurement Officer to buy the goods and services that keep our maintenance department running.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Award orders for maintenance work in conjunction with the Maintenance Superintendents.
• Interpret and compare technical quotes and negotiate pricing based on quotes and work done.
• Impose penalties in line with agreed terms where required.
• Analyse spend and improve the sourcing process to maximise quality of work and minimise cost.
• Select and source from suppliers in line with Preferential Procurement targets.
• Follow up on outstanding orders and resolve account queries.
• Stay fully conversant with current market prices of all items required.
  

• BCom degree or equivalent; a technical qualification is an advantage.
• At least 5 years experience in a senior buyer capacity within a related industry.
• Exposure to import terms and conditions.
• Strong negotiation and conflict-management skills.
• Proven supplier relationship management experience.
• Superior customer service and strong administrative skills.
• Excellent analytical planning and decision-making ability with the skill to read interpret and compile reports.
• Computer literacy across MS Office with high proficiency in MS Excel.
• The ability to engage all levels of management and suppliers working both independently and as part of a team.
