Principal Specialist Business Intelligence

Our client is seeking an experienced Principal Specialist: Business Intelligence to lead the technical direction of its Business Intelligence function. This senior leadership role is ideal for a BI expert who combines hands-on development with strategic oversight governance and team leadership to deliver high-quality reporting solutions that drive business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the Business Intelligence architecture governance standards and platform strategy.
• Lead the design and delivery of enterprise dashboards and executive reporting solutions.
• Establish standards for data models report design calculations and naming conventions.
• Oversee BI workspaces access management and report certification.
• Review and approve BI solutions prior to production deployment.
• Mentor and develop a team of BI professionals while promoting technical excellence.
• Partner with analytics and business stakeholders to ensure consistent reporting frameworks and trusted business insights.
• Identify opportunities to enhance BI capabilities platform performance and reporting standards.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in a quantitative analytical or related discipline.
• 8 years Business Intelligence development experience.
• 3 years experience in a senior or leadership BI role.
• Expert-level Power BI (or equivalent BI platform) experience.
• Advanced SQL skills with strong data modelling expertise.
• Proven experience implementing BI architecture and governance frameworks.
• Experience developing executive and board-level dashboards.
• Strong leadership mentoring and stakeholder engagement skills.

Advantageous

• Financial services or fintech experience.
• Experience with semantic layers or metric frameworks.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards.
• Exposure to federated or data mesh environments.
