Operations Engineer (TTD)

Application Detective

• Monitor application health using Grafana and Loki.
  
• Investigate production incidents and identify what went wrong.
  
• Analyse application logs exceptions and stack traces.
  
• Perform transaction tracing to follow issues from start to finish.
  
• Conduct initial Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and document findings.
  
• Troubleshoot front-end back-end and integration failures.
  

Production Problem Solver

• Take ownership of incidents from investigation through to resolution.
  
• Support Incident Problem and Change Management processes.
  
• Handle major incidents and escalations when things get serious.
  
• Track SLAs and help ensure production services remain reliable.
  
• Work with Level 3 development and infrastructure teams when deeper technical intervention is required.
  

Integration & API Troubleshooter

• Troubleshoot REST APIs and web services.
  
• Analyse and validate JSON payloads.
  
• Investigate integration failures and message-processing issues.
  
• Support reconciliation retries and failed transactions.
  
• Help keep integrations between systems running smoothly.
  

Technical Troubleshooter

• Support enterprise Java applications and JVM environments.
  
• Perform SQL queries and database validation.
  
• Investigate issues involving DNS HTTPS firewalls and load balancers.
  
• Troubleshoot authentication technologies such as SSO LDAP and Active Directory.
  
• Assist with releases deployments and production changes.
  
• Where required perform code debugging code fixes and deeper root-cause analysis.
  

Keep Things Under Control

• Create and maintain standard operating procedures runbooks and technical documentation.
  
• Work according to ITIL and operational best practices.
  
• Contribute to operational excellence initiatives.
  
• Identify recurring problems and help reduce incidents before they happen.
  

Essential Technical Skills

• 510 years of enterprise application support experience.
  
• Strong experience supporting Java applications.
  
• Production support and troubleshooting experience.
  
• Experience with REST APIs JSON and web services.
  
• Strong SQL querying and database troubleshooting skills.
  
• Experience with application logs exceptions and stack traces.
  
• Hands-on experience with Grafana and Loki or similar monitoring/observability platforms.
  
• Understanding of JVM monitoring and analysis.
  
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals including DNS HTTPS firewalls and load balancers.
  
• Understanding of SSO LDAP and Active Directory.
  
• Solid understanding of ITIL Incident Problem and Change Management.

Qualifications & Experience

• IT Degree Diploma or equivalent practical experience.

• Strong production support background.
  
• Experience working with Java integrations databases and monitoring platforms.
  
• ITIL Foundation or another relevant certification is advantageous.
