Job Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Manager to lead the maintenance and operational performance of a large-scale renewable energy facility based in De Aar Northern Cape. This leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage assets while ensuring world-class operational performance safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all operations and maintenance activities to maximise plant performance and reliability.
  • Manage site personnel supervisors contractors and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations technical standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) excellence across all site activities.
  • Monitor plant performance investigate faults and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
  • Manage preventative and corrective maintenance programmes.
  • Oversee contractor performance and ensure quality service delivery.
  • Support budgeting reporting forecasting and operational planning.
  • Coordinate plant upgrades optimisation initiatives and post-EPC close-out activities.
  • Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders clients and internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with project agreements permits licences and governance requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc Engineering BTech or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Qualified Electrician with GMR 2.1 certification.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance.
  • Proven experience within utility-scale renewable energy projects preferably wind or solar plants exceeding 50MW.
  • Strong leadership contractor management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems HV switching and power plant operations.
  • Thorough understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Strong administrative reporting and planning skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime or shifts when operationally required.
