We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Process Plant Engineering team specialising in off-gas treatment and air pollution control systems.
Duties & Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Process Plant Engineering team specialising in off-gas treatment and air pollution control systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical systems for industrial off-gas treatment and air pollution control plants.
  • Perform detailed mechanical engineering of:
    • Fabric filter baghouses
    • Wet scrubbers including Venturi packed bed and spray tower systems
    • Cyclones and dust collection equipment
    • Gas ducting systems
    • Dampers expansion joints and stacks
    • Material handling equipment
    • Storage tanks and ancillary process equipment
  • Develop equipment layouts and overall plant arrangements using 3D CAD software.
  • Prepare equipment specifications requisitions and technical datasheets.
  • Perform mechanical design calculations equipment sizing and technical evaluations.
  • Review vendor quotations drawings and technical documentation.
  • Participate in HAZOPs design reviews and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
  • Prepare and review fabrication drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Provide engineering support during fabrication construction installation and commissioning.
  • Investigate plant operational problems and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Ensure designs comply with client specifications applicable legislation and relevant international design codes and standards.
  • Work closely with process civil and EC&I engineering disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers where required.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical design within industrial process plants.
  • Proven experience in off-gas treatment gas-cleaning or air pollution control systems.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment and systems used in process plants.
  • Proficiency in 3D design and engineering software preferably Autodesk Inventor and Plant 3D.
  • Strong mechanical design and engineering calculation capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities.
Advantageous
  • ECSA Professional Engineer registration or actively working towards professional registration.
  • Experience across EPC projects from feasibility and concept design through to commissioning.
  • Experience with fabrication construction and commissioning support.
  • Knowledge of relevant international mechanical and process plant design codes.
  • Experience in ferroalloys steel PGM nuclear paper and pulp or other heavy industrial environments.
