This Sector is looking for another talented professional to complement their team in the form of aMarket Sector Coordinator (MSC) Buildings MEP.

Core Purpose

To coordinate and lead the Buildings MEP market sector by developing a single market view growing the sector pipeline securing strategic opportunities and strengthening client relationships across GIBB Pty. The role combines senior mechanical / electrical engineering expertise with market development business unit growth bid support and cross-selling across GIBBs service lines.

Key Performance Areas

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Coordinate business development activities for the Buildings MEP market sector across business units and Group companies.
  • Develop and maintain a clear sector pipeline including client opportunities strategic pursuits owners next steps and realistic probability of conversion.
  • Cultivate and maintain senior relationships with key existing and potential clients partners and stakeholders in conjunction with the GMs/MDs BULs PMs and Technical Leaders.
  • Support the development and implementation of a long-term Buildings MEP growth strategy including market positioning target clients service lines and geographic opportunities.
  • Identify qualify and help secure opportunities that grow professional fees revenue and margin within South Africa and where appropriate outside South Africa.
  • Support major bids and strategic pursuits from early opportunity identification through EOI RFP/RFQ proposal development and submission.
  • Promote cross-selling across GIBB Pty by linking Buildings MEP opportunities with architecture project management civil structural advisory and other relevant services.
  • Monitor client satisfaction market trends competitor activity and sector risks and share practical feedback with delivery teams to improve service delivery and conversion.
  • Act as an ambassador for GIBB in the Buildings MEP sector by representing GIBB professionally building market awareness and supporting thought leadership.
  • Contribute to business unit growth by supporting revenue targets resource planning leadership capability and commercially sound opportunity selection.
Requirements

Job Requirements

Qualification:

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.
  • Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer / Professional Technologist as applicable.
  • Accredited Facilities Professional qualification advantageous.
  • National qualification in Marketing or Business Development advantageous.
  • Additional management leadership project management or commercial training advantageous.

Experience:

  • Minimum 20 years post-qualification experience in mechanical or electrical engineering preferably within Buildings MEP / building services.
  • Proven experience in leading or growing a business unit market sector or major service line.
  • Strong track record in client relationship management business development proposal support and conversion of strategic opportunities.
  • Experience in developing sector strategies growing revenue and supporting commercially sustainable operations.
  • Experience managing or coordinating multidisciplinary teams senior stakeholders and technical specialists across offices or business units.

  • Understanding of professional services consulting fee proposals and bid governance.
  • Ability to mentor and support technical teams in client-facing and business development activities.
  • Awareness of quality SHERQ governance and project delivery requirements within a consulting engineering environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Office CRM / pipeline tracking and reporting capability.
