Our client an established clothing and apparel manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Marker Maker and Plotter to join their technical production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating accurate production markers preparing files for cutting optimising fabric utilisation and ensuring that markers meet approved patterns and production requirements.
We are looking for an experienced Marker Maker and Plotter with a strong background in clothing/apparel manufacturing and proven experience using Lectra CAD systems.
The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of patterns grading garment construction fabric utilisation and production requirements. Accuracy is essential as the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that markers are correctly prepared and optimised before they proceed to the cutting stage.

Our client an established clothing and apparel manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Marker Maker and Plotter to join their technical production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating accurate production markers preparing files for cutting optimising fabric utilisation and ensuring that markers meet approved patterns and production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Create accurate and efficient production markers according to approved patterns size ratios and production requirements.
- Plot and prepare markers for production and ensure all files are correctly prepared for cutting.
- Optimise marker layouts to achieve maximum fabric utilisation and minimise fabric wastage.
- Ensure grainlines fabric direction placement requirements and cutting instructions are correctly followed.
- Interpret patterns technical specifications and production requirements accurately.
- Check markers before plotting to ensure all pattern pieces sizes and quantities are correct.
- Liaise closely with Pattern Makers Graders Cutting Room Supervisors and Production teams.
- Make amendments to markers when patterns grading or production requirements change.
- Ensure all work is completed accurately and within agreed production deadlines.
- Assist with resolving marker plotting and cutting-related technical issues.
- Monitor fabric consumption and identify opportunities to improve fabric utilisation.
- Ensure marker layouts comply with production specifications and approved garment patterns.
- Maintain accurate electronic files and marker documentation.
- Ensure all marker and plotting work is completed according to required quality standards.
- Support the technical and production teams with marker-related requirements as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Relevant qualification or training in Clothing Technology Apparel Production Pattern Making CAD or a related field will be advantageous.
- Proven experience as a Marker Maker Plotter CAD Marker Maker or similar role within the clothing/apparel manufacturing industry.
- Proven experience using Lectra is essential.
- Experience with Lectra Diamino / Modaris is highly advantageous.
- Experience with pattern digitising and grading.
- Proven experience creating and preparing production markers.
- Experience with plotting and preparing markers for cutting.
- Good knowledge of garment construction and pattern pieces.
- Strong understanding of fabric utilisation fabric widths and fabric consumption.
- Ability to accurately interpret patterns measurements and technical specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight production deadlines.
