Our client in the Communications Technology sector is seeking a Manager: AI Data Governance and Data Management on a contract duration of 6 months.
As the Manager: AI Data Governance and Data Management you will be responsible for leading and operationalising a robust AI data governance and data management framework across 16 operating markets ensuring that 65M monthly active customers and 15B annual transactions are supported by trusted secure and accessible data. This role treats data as a strategic enterprise asset embedding policies controls and cultural practices that improve data quality consistency privacy and usabilitywhile enabling responsible AI regulatory compliance and stronger data-driven decision-making. You will partner closely with Data Platform Engineering Data Science & AI/ML Risk Compliance & Legal Information Security and market/business owners to embed governance across the data lifecycle and unlock the responsible monetisation of data.

Education:
- 4-year tertiary degree (required) in Computer Science Data Science Information Systems or a related field.
- Masters degree / MBA (advantage).
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent.
- Data governance certification (e.g. DCAM).
- Cloud certification (e.g. Azure Data Engineer AWS Big Data / Data Analytics Specialty).
- Project / change management certification (e.g. PMP Agile Lean Six Sigma).
- 58 years in data governance data management or enterprise data roles.
- Proven experience implementing data governance frameworks in large regulated environments (preferably fintech / financial services).
- Deep understanding of data platforms BI analytics and the AI/ML implications for governance.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional multi-country data initiatives.
- Experience across multi-market organisations (OpCo federation) is strongly advantageous.
- Strong stakeholder management with the ability to translate complex concepts to executive and non-technical audiences.

- Data platforms: SQL Hadoop Spark cloud-native data warehouses (Snowflake BigQuery Synapse)
- Privacy & Compliance: GDPR CCPA POPIA ISO 27001 PCI DSS
- BI & Analytics: Power BI Tableau Qlik AI/ML platforms
- AI/ML governance: model lineage bias explainability and Responsible AI controls
- Programming & Data Science (desirable): Python R SQL
- Data governance framework design and documentation (policies standards glossaries)
- Stakeholder management and facilitation of governance decisions
- Strong presentation and storytelling for executive governance
