Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Advisor to join a dynamic renewable energy business in Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity for a legal professional who is passionate about supporting large-scale renewable energy projects and providing commercially focused legal guidance throughout the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements including MOUs shareholder agreements EPC contracts O&M agreements land agreements acquisition and sale agreements and project documentation.
- Provide legal support throughout the development investment construction and operational phases of renewable energy projects.
- Prepare legal documentation for tender submissions and awarded projects.
- Advise multidisciplinary project teams on legal contractual and regulatory matters.
- Monitor legislative developments and provide practical legal guidance to the business.
- Coordinate and manage external legal counsel in accordance with company policies.
- Assist with litigation matters where required.
- Prepare legal memoranda for internal approval processes.
- Support legal reporting and corporate governance activities.
- Develop legal guidelines and provide training to operational teams.
- Contribute to the standardisation of legal documentation and internal legal processes.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and ensure effective corporate housekeeping of legal entities.
Minimum Requirements
- LLB or BCom Law qualification.
- Minimum 56 years relevant legal experience.
- Proven experience supporting project development project implementation and M&A transactions.
- Exposure to project finance and renewable energy projects within the South African Independent Power Producer sector will be advantageous.
- Excellent drafting negotiation and analytical skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to work independently.
- Ability to build relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
