Purpose of Role: To ensure ladles are prepared for casting operations as well as performing casting operations in the foundry.

Key Responsibilities: (What are the top 4 focus areas of the job Safety First is required)
Ladle Preparation: Clean ladles of metal and slag from previous uses patch ladle linings replace stopper nozzles and prepare stoppers. Maintain stock of required materials.
Preheating and Casting Preparation: Preheat the ladles and stoppers according to the required schedule. Set the ladle stopper perform pour-overs as needed for the alloy and prepare any ladle additions. Ensure the cast bay is prepared for casting.
Casting: Transfer and position the ladle for each mould being poured and/or operate the ladle.
Housekeeping/Materials Management: Maintain the ladle bay housekeeping and ensure 6S is applied to the area on every shift.
Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
Matric (Grade 12); or relevant qualification with minimum 6 to 12 months experience and/or training in ladle preparation and operations related to Tea Pot and Bottom Pour Ladles; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in Kaltek Ladle Lining will be advantageous.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole
numbers common fractions and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
furnished in written oral or diagram form.
