About this role
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Project Manager to support the delivery of renewable energy projects in South Africa including Solar PV Wind and/or Battery Energy Storage System projects.
The successful candidate will assist with project planning progress tracking contractor coordination reporting procurement follow-up document control risk tracking and site coordination. This role is suited to a developing project management professional with an engineering project management or construction background who wants to grow within the renewable energy sector.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining project schedules trackers and action logs.
- Support project reporting meeting minutes and stakeholder follow-up.
- Coordinate with contractors consultants suppliers and internal project teams.
- Support the Project Manager / Senior Project Manager with project risk management including identification assessment logging and tracking of mitigation actions. Assist the PM in preparing and updating risk registers; follow up on risk owners to ensure timely close-out.
- Assist with procurement tracking and document control.
- Support site inspections quality tracking HSE follow-up and close-out documentation.
- Maintain risk issue and deliverable registers.
- Support the Project Manager / Senior Project Manager in achieving project milestones including tracking interface milestones and dependencies between EPC supply and other contracts where applicable.
- Support the Project Manager in tracking contractor financial milestones including verification of supporting documentation and evidence against milestone deliverables.
- Capture and document lessons learned throughout project delivery; support knowledge transfer between project phases.
Required skills and education background.
- Qualification in Project Management Electrical Engineering Civil Engineering Construction Management or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years working experience in project management construction engineering infrastructure EPC or renewable energy projects; or demonstrable involvement in at least one large-scale project through to completion.
- Strong communication reporting and coordination skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience with MS Project Primavera P6 or similar scheduling tools will be advantageous.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites.
- Renewable energy experience in Solar PV Wind or BESS will be advantageous.
Advantageous Experience
The following would strengthen the candidate profile:
- Exposure to Solar PV Wind BESS electrical balance of plant or civil balance of plant.
- EPC project exposure.
- Site-based construction experience.
- Knowledge of project controls.
- Basic contract administration experience.
- Experience with HSE quality and commissioning documentation.
- Experience in grid or environmental workstreams would be useful but not essential.
Desirable attributes
The ideal candidate would have a passion for the renewable energy sector and personality traits would include a high level of diligence determination resilience and agility.
