Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the design and engineering of electrical systems for commercial residential and industrial projects.
- Perform electrical load calculations cable sizing voltage-drop calculations and equipment selection under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Develop and review electrical layouts single-line diagrams schematics and technical drawings.
- Prepare electrical engineering documentation specifications schedules calculations bills of quantities and other project deliverables.
- Produce and update CAD drawings and engineering models in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.
- Assist senior engineers with technical investigations feasibility studies and design development.
- Conduct site inspections and surveys to gather information required for electrical design and project execution.
- Provide technical support during construction installation testing and commissioning activities.
- Assist with resolving technical issues and coordinating electrical requirements with contractors suppliers and other engineering disciplines.
- Participate in design reviews progress meetings and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with relevant South African standards regulations project specifications and client requirements.
- Assist with the preparation and checking of tender documentation technical reports equipment specifications and procurement schedules.
- Liaise with clients contractors and project teams to ensure electrical engineering requirements are clearly understood and implemented.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and contribute to effective quality assurance and engineering governance.
- Develop technical knowledge through exposure to a variety of projects technologies and engineering environments.
Minimum Requirements
- BEng / BSc / BTech / National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a closely related qualification.
- Relevant electrical engineering experience.
- Graduate engineers with strong academic results and relevant project exposure will be considered.
- Exposure to electrical building services power distribution or consulting engineering will be advantageous.
- Familiarity with electrical design software and AutoCAD will be beneficial.
- Working knowledge of relevant South African electrical standards and regulations.
- Strong numerical analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Valid drivers licence and willingness to travel to project sites where required.
