Duties & Responsibilities
A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Junior Draughtsman to join its technical design team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded individual looking to build a career in engineering design and drafting while gaining exposure to a variety of projects and disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate engineering drawings layouts schematics and design documentation.
- Assist engineers and senior draughtsmen with design and drafting activities.
- Update and revise drawings in line with engineering changes and project requirements.
- Ensure drawings comply with relevant engineering standards specifications and company procedures.
- Assist with the preparation of drawing registers and technical documentation.
- Interpret engineering sketches specifications and design information.
- Maintain accurate drawing files and revision control.
- Liaise with engineers and other technical team members to resolve drawing-related queries.
- Support the project team with general drafting and design requirements.
- Ensure all drawings are completed accurately and within project deadlines.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Draughting qualification such as N6 Mechanical/Electrical Draughting National Certificate Diploma or equivalent.
- 02 years relevant drafting experience; internships and graduate experience will be considered.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential.
- Experience with Revit Plant 3D EPLAN or other engineering design software will be advantageous.
- Basic understanding of engineering drawings symbols and standards.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Good mathematical and technical aptitude.
- Valid South African drivers licence will be advantageous.
