Head Trade Finance

We are recruiting a Head: Trade Finance on behalf of a client to lead the strategic development structuring and execution of trade finance and guarantee solutions that support economic growth and development objectives. This is a rare opportunity for a highly experienced professional to drive the establishment and expansion of a sophisticated Trade Finance function while influencing market development product innovation and strategic investment initiatives across multiple geographies and industries.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and execution of the Trade Finance strategy aligned to organisational objectives and growth priorities.
• Drive the origination structuring negotiation and execution of complex flow trade finance structured trade finance commodity finance supply chain finance and working capital solutions.
• Identify new markets products sectors and client opportunities to expand the Trade Finance portfolio.
• Establish governance frameworks risk management structures operational processes and trade finance systems to support sustainable growth.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with clients financial institutions exporters suppliers development partners and key stakeholders.
• Provide leadership in transaction due diligence credit structuring deal closure and portfolio performance management.
• Champion digital transformation initiatives and innovative financing solutions that enhance operational efficiency and client service.
• Lead mentor and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of excellence accountability and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Postgraduate qualification in Finance Economics Engineering Development Finance Infrastructure Development or a related field.
• Minimum 12 years experience in Trade Finance Structured Trade Finance or Structured Commodity Finance within a banking investment or development finance environment.
• At least 5 years experience in a senior leadership or management role.
• Proven track record of originating structuring and closing complex trade finance transactions.
• Strong knowledge of financial markets trade finance products regulatory frameworks and risk management principles.
• Demonstrated ability to engage and negotiate with senior stakeholders across South Africa and the broader African continent.
• Exceptional strategic thinking business development leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Professional qualifications such as CFA CA(SA) or PMP will be advantageous.
