Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Head of Power & Commercial Strategy to lead the commercial strategy for a growing renewable energy portfolio. The role will focus on power procurement energy transactions commercial negotiations and risk management across large-scale energy projects
Job Description:
- Develop and execute the power-market and commercial strategy
- Lead the sourcing structuring and negotiation of PPAs wheeling grid-access and power-sale agreements
- Manage commercial relationships with IPPs utilities traders suppliers and other key stakeholders
- Develop pricing risk credit and hedging strategies
- Build commercial models investment cases and board-level recommendations
- Ensure agreements are commercially robust and bankable
- Monitor South African electricity-market tariff and regulatory developments
- Lead and develop the commercial power team
Skills & Experience:
- Significant experience in power markets energy trading renewable energy or energy infrastructure
- Proven track record in negotiating and closing complex energy transactions
- Strong understanding of the South African electricity market wheeling and regulatory environment
- Strong commercial financial modelling negotiation and risk-management skills
- Experience working with project finance and senior stakeholders
- Minimum 8 years of experience
Qualification:
- Bachelors degree in Business Finance Economics Energy Law or a related field
- MBA Finance/Energy Economics qualification or relevant professional training would be advantageous.
