Head of Operations & Maintenance | Renewable Energy

Our client is seeking an accomplished Head of Operations & Maintenance to lead the operational strategy and performance of a growing portfolio of renewable energy assets in South Africa. This executive leadership role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in utility-scale renewable energy operations team leadership and asset performance optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Operations and Maintenance strategy in alignment with business objectives.
• Lead and manage the O&M function to maximise plant availability production and asset lifespan.
• Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement performance monitoring and governance.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Manage departmental budgets and resource planning.
• Lead mentor and develop multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Monitor key operational and HSE performance indicators and implement improvement initiatives.
• Oversee reporting to executive management project boards and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineering construction asset management finance legal and development teams.
• Build strong relationships with contractors suppliers regulators and industry stakeholders.
• Promote a culture of safety operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering.
• Additional qualification in Law or Commerce will be advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years operations and maintenance experience within renewable energy or large-scale industrial projects.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy asset management and power generation operations.
• Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Sound knowledge of power generation regulations governance and safety standards.
• Experience managing operational budgets and business performance.
• Excellent communication analytical and stakeholder management skills.
