Job Summary
Take the lead of a high-acuity Emergency Centre where clinical excellence decisive leadership and exceptional patient care are at the forefront. This senior opportunity is ideal for an experienced Emergency Medicine practitioner who is passionate about leading multidisciplinary teams driving quality improvement and shaping the strategic direction of a busy private emergency department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and clinical leadership for the Emergency Centre ensuring the delivery of safe high-quality patient care.
- Lead manage mentor and support Emergency Centre practitioners to promote clinical excellence and professional development.
- Analyse data audits and operational reports to identify trends and implement solutions that support business and clinical objectives.
- Actively contribute to organisational strategies projects and service improvement initiatives.
- Drive quality assurance and continuous quality improvement programmes to ensure the highest standards of emergency care.
- Identify assess and mitigate clinical and operational risks within the Emergency Centre.
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance standards healthcare legislation and organisational policies.
- Foster strong collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Minimum Requirements:
- MB BCh/MB ChB with Dip PEC or MSc/MPhil (Emergency Medicine) Essential.
- MMed Emergency Medicine or MMed Family Medicine (FCEM/FCFP) Advantageous.
- Minimum of 3 years experience working in a private sector Emergency Centre.
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory or managerial experience.
- Previous leadership involvement within an Emergency Medicine environment will be advantageous.
- Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Advanced Life Support certification in Cardiac Paediatric and Trauma care will be advantageous.
- Strong leadership communication and clinical decision-making skills.

- The Patients Rights Charter.
- HPCSA regulations ethical rules and policy guidelines.
- National Health Act No. 61 of 2003.
- Mental Health Care Act No. 17 of 2002.
- Childrens Act No. 38 of 2005.
- Childrens Amendment Act No. 17 of 2022.
- Sound knowledge of the private healthcare industry.
- South African Triage Scale (SATS).
- Data management and report writing skills.
- Disaster and Major Incident Management.
- Other relevant clinical courses (e.g. Advanced Airway Management Ultrasound Procedural Sedation).
- Clinical policies and procedures relevant to the Emergency Centre.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
