A leading organisation within the insurance sector is seeking an experienced Head of Financial Reporting to join its finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer this role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting regulatory compliance financial controls and the efficient operation of the finance function.
This opportunity is ideally suited to a qualified CA(SA) with strong technical accounting expertise insurance industry experience and a solid understanding of IFRS 17.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the financial reporting function
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial reports statutory returns and management reports
- Prepare Annual Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS and applicable accounting standards
- Develop maintain and implement financial controls policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with tax legislation regulatory requirements and internal governance frameworks
- Manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including auditors and regulators
- Coordinate internal and external audit processes
- Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and reporting requirements
- Monitor financial risks and provide strategic financial insights to executive management
- Supervise and support reporting team members
- Assist the CFO with financial planning best-practice initiatives and ad hoc projects
Qualifications
- CA(SA) qualification (essential)
- Minimum 5 years post-articles experience in a supervisory or management-level finance role
- Insurance or broader financial services industry experience preferred
- Strong technical accounting knowledge including IFRS and IFRS 17
- Experience preparing annual financial statements and regulatory reports
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems
- Strong financial reporting and financial statement analysis expertise
- Knowledge of IFRS Tax Auditing and governance frameworks
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High levels of integrity professionalism and commercial acumen
