Generator Technician

Job Summary
- Perform routine preventative maintenance (oil changes filter replacements cooling system flushes) on diesel and petrol generators
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical faults including engine controllers AVRs (Automatic Voltage Regulators) and fuel systems
- Conduct minor engine overhauls and component replacements
- Assist in the positioning wiring and commissioning of new power units and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
- Perform load bank testing to ensure systems operate within specified parameters under stress
- Maintain accurate digital logs of service history parts used and site conditions
- Grade 12
- Trade Tested Electrician
- Minimum of 35 years of experience in generator mechanics or industrial electrical systems
- Strong understanding of diesel engine mechanics and AC/DC electrical theory
- Familiarity with controllers such as Deep-Sea Electronics (DSE) ComAp or Lovato
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety protocols regarding high-voltage equipment and fuel handling
- Valid Code EB (or higher) license is essential for site visits
- Availability for an on-call rotation to handle after-hours emergency repairs
